Interview Journal 11/7/11 We used the the interview time with our teacher to gain as much insight about the real job as possible. We prepared an entire document of questions including aspects of the profession and personal thoughts. She informed us about her classroom management techniques and how it is important to set the standard immediately in the semester. After setting the bar, the students will continue to follow these actions throughout the semester and handling the class will be much easier. The class is used to doing different activities everyday. There is never a full week of lecture or all activities planned, it is a good mix of everything. Laurie explained to us that she needs to know how she is assessing her students during every lesson. In fact, while we work with her to write our lessons, she always asks us what our assessment is and makes sure it is effective. After teaching one time, we discovered that the class is very respectful and able to cooperate with what activities are planned. I feel personally that they benefit from group work more or more class interaction. During the interview, I realized how even though I am learning about my content area now, I will never truly know the information until I have to teach it. I realized that not only can you walk the walk, but you have to be able to talk the talk which includes much more in depth, personalized work on lessons.
